I don't know why I want them - I guess... b/c all the cheap jeans always die.

what we're loving at the moment...

So, it's been a while since we've posted, and a lot has happened since the last post! One of us got married (yay!), I went on vacation and went to a wedding, and we've both been doing lots of librarian things. Summer in the library just means it's time to catch up on all those things you can't do when students are around. We also both have a current literary obsession and, of course, we've been thinking about back-to-school shopping and what items we want to add to our wardrobe for fall! So, here's what we're loving at the moment:

George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire

HBO recently showed the first book in this series, A Game of Thrones, as a miniseries. We both started reading them shortly after the series began, and are completely OBSESSED! We are both currently on the third book, A Storm of Swords, and can't wait to discuss the chapters we've just read with each other! The fifth book in the series, A Dance with Dragons, comes out today, and there are supposed to be 2 more after that. However, George R.R. Martin has taken a while to come out with the fifth, and I'm afraid it will take him a while to complete the last two...But they are fantastic! They have a wonderful mix of science fantasy, magic, but are still real enough to make you feel for the characters. Each chapter is told from a different character's perspective, in third-person limited, and Martin is a great story-teller.

TOMS Wedges

A friend of mine recently purchased a pair these shoes, and I think they are super cute and look really comfortable. I think they're shoes I could wear to work (in the summer) but also pair with jeans, shorts, skirts, or dresses the rest of the time.

American Eagle Preppy One-Button Blazer

I am still on the hunt for a great blazer! I love the styling of this blazer, the satin detail, and the lining. However, it is a bit more than I want to spend, so I'm hoping this one goes on sale soon!

Amy:
OK Amy now... what am *I* loving right now?  Well, I agree with the book series we're currently reading - I <3 it.  I can't put it down - it's seriously difficult to come to work these days when the book is sitting there, wanting me to read it.

Kittens:
I'm loving... kittens!   My new hubby and I just adopted a 5 month old teen kittten - his name is Dexter, and he's PRECIOUS:

Eye-shadows:
As far as fashion items, I have been adding to my eye-shadow collection - I have an unhealthy obsession with MAC and Urban Decay eye-shadows.  It's true.  I just purchased several purples - I'm going to do a whole post about my collection *SO FAR* perhaps next!

Seriously though - they have the best pigmentation and they're relatively affordable and they last forever. I've changed to buying the little pans and putting them in a palette b/c the single eyeshadows from MAC are cheaper that way:  $11 vs. $14.

Eyeliner:
I just bought purple eyeliner - finally.  I bought MAC's Technakohl Liner in Purple Dash:

and I'm loving it for my green eyes.

Other obsessions... the perfect black suit.  I'm searching for it.  Will keep you posted on any developments.  I'm liking this one from Banana Republic:

Something of an investment - so I want to get one that I love. :)

It's wedding season!

For me, this is the year of the wedding. I have been to 2 already this year, was in a wedding this past weekend, and have at least 4 more this year. Thankfully, I have a pretty good supply of dresses for all these events, thanks to the J. Crew warehouse sale that I hit up last year. A few of my faves:

The cotton cady Erica dress

The silk chiffon Evie dress (I have the Sophie version, but it's very similar to this one)

There are several other styles that I love, but alas, I can't really afford these unless I get them at a huge discount (thus, why I LOVE the warehouse sale). I also like to check out Ann Taylor LOFT, Banana Republic, and Anthropologie.

Thinking about dresses got me thinking about my ideal outfits for different kinds of weddings. One of the weddings I'll be attending will be on the beach, which requires a different kind of dress than a more traditional church wedding. So, using www.polyvore.com, I created looks for both kinds of weddings (could I afford all of the pieces here!)

First, the more traditional wedding - I love the color of this dress, and I've got to have something I can dance in and not worry about pulling up constantly! (Granted, the shoes would probably be off my feet about mid-way through the night, but I bet the bride's would be, too, judging from most of the weddings I've been to!) I also think the leaf barrette adds a little flair to a traditional updo.

This look is for the beach wedding in Florida. I would need something light and comfortable, since it's going to be HOT, and I love the colors in this dress. I don't usually wear a lot of jewelry, but these bangles would be fun, and I think these shoes are adorable, although a bit tall for walking in sand (again, those would come off soon!).
